You = an established online writer with a mid-sized tribe committed to becoming a breakout next-gen author

Me = a progressive editor helping authors craft shareable books that succeed at the new frontier of digital publishing

What do blockbuster movies and bestselling books have in common?

Lead figures elevated, nurtured, propelled, and encouraged by a mostly anonymous supporting cast. From Tom Hanks impressing us on the silver screen to JK Rowling bewitching us with books, breakout talents always have their trusted sidekicks to help them become their best.

The author-editor relationship is the classic example, and a dearly special one at that.

I think every writer should have tattooed backwards on his forehead, like ambulance on ambulances, the words ‘everybody needs an editor’. — Michael Crichton

I respect talented, committed authors second to none. A writer myself, I understand the pressures that accompany the writing process like an inescapable gravity flowing through the universe.

Simply stated, good writing is damn hard work – made harder by the exciting and promising but often overwhelming dynamics of the digital publishing revolution.

So, if I had to guess, here’s what you’ve been asking yourself…at one point or another.

Who am I writing for, really? Is my book fulfilling all their expectations? Or is it falling short? Where? And how do I correct it?

Ultimately, is my book a good book? A great book? An important book? Is it lovable? Is it inspiring? Is it shareable?

As your editor, I help you make sense of this madness. And it’s madness only because you and your manuscript are infused as one. That’s no crime. Or, if it is, then all authors are guilty.

Point blank, you will never have the proper perspective from which to fully and objectively review your writing. Remember, you’re the author. You’re the lead actor on the main stage. That’s a tough position to be in. So give yourself permission to get help. All top performers do.

My impulse to make things good, and to make good things better, is almost ungovernable. I suppose it’s lucky I found a wholesome outlet for it. — Robert Gottlieb

I adore that quote from legendary editor Robert Gottlieb. Gottlieb was, of course, referring to editing…his master craft. And so it is with me. I’m an incurable bookworm and proud master wordsmith.

Editing is no career. It’s my calling, period exclamation point!

Moreover, I’m an established digital progressive. I live, work, and play “in the cloud” and on the front-lines of socially-charged digital innovation. From new-school publishing to hardcore tech geekdom, I know what’s up and why it’s important. “Shareable” is my second language.

Lastly – and this is important – I’m highly capable, hard-working, energetic, sensible, and full of goodwill. (My parents raised me right.)
